Hello from the law library’s Acting Director.  Law Library Director Michelle Wu is taking a well-deserved sabbatical year and will be back with us July 1, 2019.  In the meantime, this issue will give you just an inkling of what has been going on in and around the library recently.  As usual, our innovative and productive staff have been busy with new initiatives to keep our library up-to-date and our patrons ready to take on the ever-expanding challenges of the legal information world.

We have now spent a year in our adapted space after the reintegration of the Woolf collections and staff back into the Williams building.  We continue to fine-tune.  During the fall semester this year we created a unified service desk (circulation and reference) in the same location.  This has been a good way for students to ask all their questions and get help for all there library needs in one place.  And since all of this is happening in the main lobby and not in the reading room, we can offer these services without disrupting the concentration of those serious scholars in the reading room!

You will see in this issue that we have spent many months migrating to a new online library system and that we feature our new Special Collections portal.  Adapting technology to better serve the law library community is an ongoing challenge and a great opportunity for our staff to prepare themselves for the constantly changing world of legal information.  You will also see some activities which pay tribute to the less technical summertime joys of baseball and gardening!

The continuing support of the Friends of the Library is instrumental to the improvement of our collections and our skills in service to the students and faculty of Georgetown Law.  Thank you for your support!
