Library of Congress Exhibit Baseball Americana…and the Law
If you’re in D.C. over the holidays and looking for an interesting exhibit, and want to take the opportunity to also visit the beautiful Thomas Jefferson Building, the Library of Congress is currently presenting Baseball Americana, an exhibit on the history of baseball in the United States, featuring historic items and archival materials, such as Ichiro Suzuki’s pro glove, the 1856 manuscript “Laws of Base Ball,” and Ty Cobb’s 1908 American League player contract. Betty Lupinacci, a supervisor in the Collection Services Division at the Library of Congress, has written, in conjunction with the exhibit, about the relationship between baseball and the law for In Custodia Legis, the Library of Congress’s blog.
