Question: I left my books in my locker. Can I get electronic access to my casebook?

Answer:
Most casebook publishers are providing online access, where available, to students during instructional continuity periods.  Since their policies and procedures may change as they receive inquiries, we will post any known changes to this site but we also encourage you to speak directly to the casebook publisher for the most current information.

If you have a casebook published by:

  • West Academic (which includes any imprint by West, Thompson-West, or Foundation Press), please email support@westacademic.com or call (877) 888-1330.
  • LexisNexis, please call (800) 833-9844.
  • Carolina Academic Press. See VitalSource instructions below.
  • Wolters Kluwer (which includes the Aspen imprint). See VitalSource instructions below.
  • Oxford University Press, please contact your faculty member.
Oxford University Press. Not all of their titles are online, so they need to check title by title. They ask that any faculty member using one of their casebooks call them at 1-800-445-9714. They will need the class and the ISBN of the casebook adopted.

For any publisher which says that their materials are available through VitalSource, please follow the instructions below to gain access:

  1. To get started, visit bookshelf.vitalsource.com and log in or create a Bookshelf account with your institution-provided email address.
  2. Here are instructions on creating a Bookshelf account .

Question: I have books checked out and due in the coming weeks but can’t get back to campus to return them. What do I do?

Answer:  If these are Georgetown University Law Library books (which will bear our name on the book), don’t worry!  We are in the process of extending all due dates so that no one needs to return materials until the University returns to normal operations.  We will send out an update when this is completed.

Question: I have interlibrary loans that are due in the coming weeks but can’t get back to campus. What do I do?

Answer: We will be in touch with every member of our community who has borrowed books from other libraries through us. Since these are not our materials and we cannot unilaterally change the terms of the loans, each situation is necessarily different, so not every solution will be the same.

Question: Will research and reference librarians be available to assist me with research questions and locating materials?

Answer: Yes. Librarians from Library Research Services, Reference, and Foreign & International departments will be available during the following hours via email, chat, and Zoom:

  • You can reach the reference desk during these hours
    • 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday
    • 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday
    • Noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

By emailing lawlibref@georgetown.edu, calling 202.662.9140 or using the “Live Chat” button on the library’s website.

  • You can reach the Foreign and International department from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday by emailing lawintlref@georgetown.edu or calling 202-662-4195.
  • You can reach the Library Research Services department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by emailing lawlibraryresearch@georgetown.edu.

Question: I will be on campus and would like to return some library books.  Where can I drop these off?

Answer: On Mondays and Thursdays, between 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. you can drop them off in the bookdrop that is next to the library’s circulation desk.  At all other times, there is a bookdrop in McDonough, next to room 520.
