New Westlaw Platform: Westlaw Edge

This summer, West announced a new look and features for Westlaw called Westlaw Edge. Faculty accounts will be given access to Edge on November 1 for an advance look. Faculty accounts will still have access to current Westlaw from November to January so they can see what their students are seeing for teaching purposes. All academic accounts (faculty and student) will turn into Edge on January 1 (there will be no option for anyone to use the current version of Westlaw from that date on). https://legal.thomsonreuters.com/en/products/westlaw/edge

Kluwer’s New CCH Cheetah Platform

Legal publisher Wolters Kluwer has been transitioning materials to another platform to provide easier access in a user interface that is more intuitive to use. Librarians have been working with this platform for some time, both in the Legal Research Services department and as liaisons. The content is the same; we find that without regard to changes in platform, publishers do make substantive changes to some titles and we collect the details on such changes so that we can address any need for that content. You can take a look at Cheetah by accessing it here.

The previous platform will sunset in two weeks, on October 31st 2018. Any links that you may have bookmarked or areas for which you receive alerts will need to be changed to a link for the Cheetah platform. Cheetah should display as the suggested database location for titles in our catalog.

Most important of all, your liaison librarians and the Library Research Services staff, lawlibraryresearch@georgetown.edu , are here to assist with any of these adjustments, so if there is any alert or content that you cannot update or locate, please do not hesitate to contact us.
