Justice Samuel A. Alito, Jr.

The Honorable Samuel Alito was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He served as a law clerk for Leonard I. Garth of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit from 1976–1977. He was Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of New Jersey (1977–1981); Assistant to the Solicitor General, U.S. Department of Justice (1985-1987); Deputy Assistant Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice (1985–1987); U.S. Attorney, District of New Jersey (1987–1990). He was appointed to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1990. President George W. Bush nominated him as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, and he took his seat on January 31, 2006. In September, 2016, along with Dr. John Baker, Justice Alito was a speaker for the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.

Congressman Dave Brat

 

Congressman Dave Brat currently serves as the Representative for Central Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.  He is a member of the House Budget Committee, Education and Workforce Committee, and the Small Business Committee.  Congressman Brat is the Chairman of the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access.

Congressman Brat earned a B.A. from Hope College, a Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Economics from American University.  He has worked for the World Bank and taught Economics at Randolph Macon College.

F. Scott Kieff

Scott Kieff became a Commissioner of the U.S. International Trade Commission on October 18, 2013, after having been nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate. Prior to becoming a Commissioner, he served as the Fred C. Stevenson Research Professor at the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC and as the Director of the Hoover Project on Commercializing Innovation at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

Commissioner Kieff practiced law as a trial lawyer and patent lawyer for Pennie &Edmonds in New York and Jenner &Block in Chicago and as Law Clerk to U.S. Circuit Judge Giles S. Rich. He studied law at Penn and biology and economics at MIT. He was recognized as one of the nation’s “Top 50 under 45” by the magazine IP Law &Business in 2008, and was inducted as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2012.

Alice Shih LaCour

Alice Shih LaCour currently serves as Legal counsel to U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.  She earned a degree in Economics from Washington and Lee University and received her J.D. from Yale Law School.  After law school, she clerked on the Federal District Court in the Southern District of Texas and on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.  Following her time as a law clerk, she began to work for the Department of Justice.
