Saba Rewald
Saba is an Ethiopian-American. She graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.S. in English Education. Saba grew up in Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the U.S.A. Saba fluently speaks Amharic and English.
Saba comes to Georgetown after five years of teaching middle and high school students in Uganda and Guatemala. Saba taught Physical Education, English/Language Arts and Social Studies. She also coordinated and managed a range of extra-curricular activities such as Model United Nations, KPOP and ISAAK soccer.
During her time in education, Saba centered her curriculum around social justice project-based learning. Furthermore, concerned with prejudicial treatment between staff and students from minority groups, she challenged administrators to reflect on structural, systemic forms of oppression and advocated for holistic changes such as cultural competence training, intentional hiring practices and justice-focused teaching.
During her time at Georgetown, Saba hopes to learn additional ways to address race-based oppression. She is also interested in the juvenile justice system, prisoner advocacy and criminal justice reform.
In her free time, Saba enjoys reading memoirs, getting tattoos and spending time with her family.
