B.S.F.S. Georgetown University; J.D. Georgetown Law. Retired February 2016 from Federal service, formerly Director of the Office of Administrative Litigation at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where Professor Gerarden led staff representing the public interest in electric utility, gas pipeline, and oil pipeline rate litigation. In FERC’s Office of Enforcement, Professor Gerarden developed enforcement policy following the Energy Policy Act of 2005 and directed numerous successful investigations of companies alleged to have violated FERC rules and regulations. Previously Professor Gerarden practiced energy and administrative law with the firms of Donelan, Cleary, Wood & Maser, PC, and McGee & Ketcham, PC, where he represented a wide variety of clients. Professor Gerarden was law clerk to Judge Oliver Gasch on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
