Eric Solomon is a partner at Steptoe & Johnson LLP in Washington DC. Before joining Steptoe, he was Co-Director of the National Tax Department at Ernst & Young LLP. Eric was the Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) at the U.S. Treasury Department from December 2006 to January 2009. He joined the Treasury Department in October of 1999 and served in both the Clinton and George W. Bush Administrations. Before his appointment as Assistant Secretary, he was Deputy Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) and Deputy Assistant Secretary (Regulatory Affairs). From 1990 to 1996, Eric served at the Internal Revenue Service, where he headed the IRS legal division with responsibility for corporate tax issues. Before joining the IRS, Eric practiced tax law in New York City, and was a partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath in Philadelphia. He is a past Chair of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association and a former member of the Executive Committee of the Tax Section of the New York State Bar Association.
