IN PERSON TRAININGS:

Instructional Continuity

University instructional continuity policies strongly encourages instructors to continue instruction during events that impact university operations, such as inclement weather or health concerns. This training session will cover:

  • Zoom, which allows instructors to meet remotely with their students, whether in the classroom or at home.
  • Panopto, which allows students to view course recordings if they are unable to attend class in person.
  • Using Canvas to communicate with students during periods of instructional continuity.

Canvas 101

Learn the basic to intermediate tools in Canvas.  Get an overview of how to find and set up your course, as well as the basic tools for running your Canvas course site.

“Open Lab” Canvas Walk-in Trainings

IST would like to invite you to attend one of our Canvas “Open Lab” walk in sessions. This is a great opportunity to put the finishing touches on your online course site, or to set it up. It is recommended that attendees bring their own devices to work on, but IST will have loaner laptops on hand if needed.

When and Where:

  • Wednesday, February 19th, 2:30-4:30pm, McDonough 492

Sign ups are not mandatory, but are encouraged as it will help us make sure we have enough staff to assist you. IST and Faculty Support will be on hand to assist you with Canvas questions and issues you might have.


Assignments and Quizzes

Canvas includes a number of tools to assess your students, reducing your workload by allowing you to quickly create regular formative and summative assessments. This training will provide guidance on the usage of these tools and information about how they can streamline your class’s online component and allow you to devote more time to developing and delivering your curriculum.

Building Your Canvas Home-Page

This is a hands on training. Learn how to set your Canvas course site and your students up for success by creating an engaging and informational Canvas “Homepage”. Use the Pages and other Canvas tools to make your course easily navigable and aesthetically pleasing.
