Meet the SBA Executive Board
Melody Alemansour, President
Melody was born and raised in Orange County, California and graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in Political Science and minor in Farsi. After a year working in DC and subsequently campaigning for Hillary Clinton, Melody returned to the District to begin her GULC experience in the fall of 2017.
In addition to serving as President of the Student Bar Association, Melody is a peer advisor and the Diversity and Development Editor for the Journal of Gender and the Law. Melody will work as a Summer Associate at K&L Gates this summer in their DC office. In her spare time, she enjoys running with the Hoya Lawya Runners and exploring all that the city has to offer.

In addition to serving as SBA Day Vice President, she is a member of the Trial Advocacy Division of Barrister’s Council, Advocates Against Sexual Violence, and If/When/How. Outside of law school, Olivia loves to play with Lincoln, her golden retriever, and to try new restaurants in D.C.
Russell Childree, Evening Vice President
Russell Childree is honored to serve as Vice President of SBA for Georgetown’s Evening Program. Russell is a firm believer that the Evening Program’s professional and collegial culture represents Georgetown Law at its best. He currently works full-time at a civil rights litigation firm in D.C.
Prior to law school, Russell worked as a high school teacher on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota with Teach for America and at an education non-profit in D.C.
Alexandra Babin, Treasurer
Alexandra (Ali) Babin is currently serving as the Treasurer of Georgetown Law’s Student Bar Association. As a 1L delegate serving on the appropriations committee, she quickly realized the significant impact that events for student organizations on campus have on networking, relationship-building, and mental health.
Ali is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, and she graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University Lincoln Center in 2018 with a degree in American Studies and concentration in Power, Politics, and Institutions. During university, she was involved in local, state, and federal politics, and she hopes to continue to engage with her community after law school. At Georgetown Law, Ali is the secretary of the First Generation Students Union and a member of Law Students for Democratic Reform and Georgetown Law Women’s Legal Alliance.
Rachel Schumacher, Secretary
Rachel is a 2L who is thrilled to serve as the SBA Secretary this year. She is excited to improve SBA’s communication with the student body and enhance SBA’s record keeping.
Rachel is originally from Cleveland (Go Browns!) and graduated in 2014 from UVA with degrees in public policy and foreign affairs. After graduation Rachel lived in Boston, LA, and DC working in export compliance for a government contractor. At Georgetown, Rachel is involved in National Security Law Society, Outlaw, and is a Peer Advisor.
Madison Winey, Attorney General
Madison is a 3L at Georgetown Law and has served on the Student Bar Association since her 1L year. As Attorney General, Madison presides over debate during delegation meetings and interprets the Student Constitution and Bylaws. She is honored to take on this role after two years on the Judiciary Committee.
Madison is from the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated summa cum laude from Connecticut College in 2015 with majors in Government and Theater. Madison worked as a Corporate Legal Specialist at Gensler, an architecture and design firm, in New York City prior to law school and spent her 2L summer at Goodwin Proctor NY. In addition to serving as the Attorney General, Madison is also the Online Editor of the Georgetown Journal for Gender and the Law. When she was 17 years old, she left a basket of lemons on Robin William’s doorstep with a love note. Unsurprisingly, he did not respond.
Fred Swanstrum, Chief of Staff
Fred Swanstrum was first elected to SBA as a 1L with a desire to enhance the student experience and assure student interests are at the forefront of Georgetown Law decisions. As a 3L, he is excited to use his experience to get work done on behalf of the student body.

After graduating, he served an appointment as Secretary to the Idaho House Revenue and Taxation Committee and taught speech and debate in the Idaho State Correctional Center. At Georgetown Law, Fred is involved in a variety of organizations. He is Executive Editor for the Georgetown Law Journal’s Annual Review of Criminal Procedure, a board member of B.A.R.S., and a member of the First Generation Student Union. In his free time he enjoys making music, going to concerts, and enjoying the outdoors.
